Samford University’s Cooney Field House

The Samford University’s Cooney Family Field House is a unique Georgian Colonial structure to blend in with the design standards of Samford, all the while serving a very functional athletic operations program. This three story facility houses the growing SoCon football program at Samford. The state-of-the-art locker rooms have clear finished Birch wooden lockers, therapeutic tubs, high tech training rooms. The coaches and administrative areas are appointed very well with many technology upgrades. This major structure adds to Samford’s beauty of the past while creating a functional football program for the future. This facility, the Cooney Family Field House, brings the heart and soul of campus athletics to a higher level in recruiting many talented students to join the Samford community.

Unique challenges to construction included construction of the building 25 feet from the goalpost during football season as well as 150 driven H-piles in a 20,000 square foot building footprint.
